Ready to play or get serious about livestream gaming? Connect to your Xbox, record awesome plays, or broadcast your game to other players and teams. Here’s how to use Windows 10 and your new Surface Laptop for the best game quality and performance.

Get into Game Mode

  1. Select Start , select Settings , then click Gaming or open settings from Start menu or use the keyboard shortcut, Windows key + I.

  1. On the left side, click “Game mode.” Then on the right side, use the slider to turn game mode on or off.

Activate the Game bar

  1. Press + G to open the Game bar.

  1. Select Settings on the Game bar.

  1. In the General tab, select the Use Game Mode for this game check box.
Note: Some games automatically turn on Game Mode. If so, the check box will already be selected.

Broadcast your games via Game Bar Settings

  1. Select Start , select Settings , then click Gaming or open settings from Start menu or use the keyboard shortcut, Windows key + I.

  1. On the left side, click “Broadcasting” Then on the right side, use the sliders and drop down menus to adjust audio and video recording settings.

Take game screenshots and record game clips via Game DVR

  1. Select Start , select Settings , then click Gaming or open settings from Start menu or use the keyboard shortcut, Windows key + I.

  1. On the left side, click “Game DVR” Then on the right side, use the sliders and drop down menus to adjust how, when, and what game clips you want recorded.
